The new service is now known internally as Premium Lite, but its unclear whether YouTube will use the name when it officially launches.
According to Bloomberg, the low-cost version of YouTube Premium is expected to be announced soon, but initially it was only available in four countries: the US, Australia, Germany and Thailand.
The main goal of Premium Lite is to target YouTube users who love entertainment shows, huong dan and podcasts rather than music videos. The report also revealed that the service package will provide access to a big library of podcasts and educational videos without ads.
However, Premium Lite users who want to watch music videos without ads will still have to subscribe to the full YouTube Premium plan. There is currently no information about the exact price, but with YouTube Premium in the US priced at 13.99 USD/month, and a separate YouTube Music Premium package priced at 10.99 USD/month, the Lite version is expected to be significantly cheaper because it does not include YouTube Music Premium.
A YouTube spokesperson said: In order to give users more options and flexibility, we have been testing a new version of YouTube Premium, with most of the videos not having ads in some markets. We hope to expand this service to more users in the future with the support of our partners.
With the above information, it can be seen that Premium Lite is no longer a product aimed at emerging markets but is gradually becoming a global choice, targeting users with different needs and looking for a more economical solution.
