The platform has just announced an interactive ranking trial - a feature that will display the 50 most active viewers on each livestream channel.
Viewers can accumulate points through actions such as commenting, spending money to stand out in the chat frame when livestreaming... and this score will be displayed by the crown icon on the top of the chat frame.
When clicking on the crown icon, viewers will see the top 50 rankings. The three leaders were also awarded special badges displayed next to their names during live broadcasts.
YouTube has not yet released details about how to calculate scores and whether different forms of interaction have different weights.
For those who don't want their name to appear on the chart, YouTube also provides the option to turn off this feature in the settings
The new feature is currently limited to testing on a small group of users, but YouTube said it will expand in the near future.
