1. All fruits are refrigerated
Not all fruits are suitable for keeping in the refrigerator. Suitable fruits for refrigeration are apples, grapes, berries, pears, kiwis, etc.
Suitable fruits for storing at room temperature are bananas, mangoes, papaya, pineapple and persimmons.
Low temperatures will turn tropical fruits like bananas and mangoes black and affect their flavor. While apples, pears... can be stored refrigerated to prolong their shelf life.
2. Cut the fruit and put it in the refrigerator, then eat it the next day
We should eat it immediately after cutting to reduce nutrient loss. When cut fruits come into contact with the air, vitamin C is easily lost, especially kiwi, oranges, strawberries... which are rich in antioxidants, so they should be eaten immediately after cutting.
Avoid placing them directly in the refrigerator. Wrap the food with film or put it in a sealed container to reduce the oxidation process.
If the fruit is cut out and has a change of color, is soft or even smells, you should not eat it.
3. Eat fruit without washing, just peel
Wash all fruits, even if you want to peel them.
Fruits sold on the market may contain pesticide residues, dust and even infections during transportation. Even when peeled, they can still be contaminated with contact with a knife or hand.
Proper cleaning method: First wash the surface with running water. Use a soft brush to gently brush on the skin ( integrated with apples, grapes...). Soak in salt water or baking soda for 5-10 minutes (included for strawberries and cherries). Wash them, dry them and eat them.
4. Squeezing fruit juice is better than eating whole fruit
We should eat both fruit and retain fiber in our diet.
Although fresh juices seem nutritious, they lack fiber in fruit, so blood sugar levels increase rapidly and easily cause insulin changes.
A healthier way is to choose smoothies and puree with fruit spinach to reduce the impact on blood sugar levels.
Add yogurt or nuts to increase satiety and balance nutrition. Control your portion sizes and avoid consuming too much fructose at one time.
