At nearly 50 years old, Angelina Jolie has achieved many things in life, one of which is her work at the United Nations (UN).
For the mother of six, living life to the fullest also includes taking care of herself, and her skin looks better than ever at 49.
Hollywood A-listers recently wowed fans by posing on the New York red carpet for the premiere of her film Maria at the Big Apple's annual film festival. Angelina Jolie, in a stunning white gown and caramel-colored hair, beamed as she smiled for the cameras.
How does she manage to look naturally beautiful, despite her age? The American actress has five top rules for maintaining a youthful appearance.
Skin care - start early
It's easy to let every new product that hits the streets or goes viral on social media end up in your beauty bag, but Angelina is living proof that you don't need to spend thousands on a skincare routine — and if possible, it's best to keep things simple.
Angelina Jolie has always been a natural beauty, so she never had to do much, her dermatologist, Dr. Rand, told Refinery29. "It's really just sunscreen, proper cleansing with a gentle cleanser, antioxidants, sometimes glycolic acid, and natural products.
No makeup
Meanwhile, when it comes to makeup and beauty, Angelina - who split from Brad Pitt in 2016 - likes to embrace her natural beauty.
Her dermatologist said that unless she's working, the star won't apply thick layers of foundation and concealer to her face.
SPF protection
By now, we all know that wearing sunscreen is key not only to preventing skin cancer but also to slowing the aging process.
''She's been very good at using sunscreen since she was a child to protect her skin. She knows that the sun is not good for the skin in general,'' said Dr. Rand.
Don't surrender to beauty standards
With so much pressure from around us, it's easy to give in to beauty standards and resort to plastic surgery to achieve the ''perfect look''.
"I've never done anything and I don't think I will," Angelina shared with Daily Mail.
"But if that makes someone happy, that's up to them. I'm not in someone else's shoes to know what would make them feel better about themselves. But I have no intention of doing it myself."
Beauty begins from within
You can always be the most beautiful girl and woman in the world - but if you don't have a strong spirit, then all that doesn't matter, that's how Angelina feels.
“I often tell my daughters that the most important thing they can do is develop their minds,” she said. “There is nothing more attractive — you might even say seductive — than a woman who has her own independent will and her own opinions.”
