Drinking hot vegetable broth is a simple way to prevent colds in winter. Here's how to make this dish as suggested by Healthshots.

What is vegetable broth?

Vegetable stock is a flavorful liquid made by simmering a mixture of vegetables, herbs, and spices in water, and is primarily used as a base for dishes and soups. You can also use it on its own as a soup.

Vegetable broth is a perfect alternative to meat broth, so it is suitable for vegetarians and vegans, says Tanya Mehra, a pediatric nutritionist (India), certified at Stanford University.

Why should you use vegetable broth in winter?

Boosts the immune system: Vegetable broth is packed with nutrients and helps boost the immune system, reducing cold and flu symptoms.

Weight loss: Vegetable broth is rich in fiber, water and low in calories so it is very suitable for people who are losing weight.

Good for gut health: Drinking vegetable broth can improve digestion, helping to reduce dehydration caused by Vietnamese sausagey, which can cause you to lose a lot of fluids from your body.

Helps strengthen bones: Vegetables used in broth contain calcium which helps strengthen bones.
