Unfinished career...
The match-fixing scandal at the 23rd SEA Games (2005) is a haunting case for Vietnamese football. Among the 7 players involved, former midfielder Le Quoc Vuong received the heaviest punishment.
In 2009, Quoc Vuong was pardoned and The Cong club created conditions for him to return to competition. Despite his best efforts, being away from the field for 4 years caused Quoc Vuong many difficulties.
From The Cong to Xuan Thanh Ha Tinh and Thanh Hoa, the bumpy road made Le Quoc Vuong say goodbye to his football career at the end of the 2011 season. Leaving football behind, the midfielder from Nghe An returned to his hometown to make a living, doing many jobs to make ends meet.
During this time, Quoc Vuong worked for a transportation and tourism company in Nghe An. In addition to his role as a delivery man, he was also a player for the company’s 7-a-side football team. After 1 year, Quoc Vuong switched to marketing and sales for a wine company.
In addition to their main job, Quoc Vuong and his wife also opened a seafood restaurant in Vinh city.

In August 2019, Le Quoc Vuong returned to football, he participated in the C-license coach training course organized by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
In early 2020, Quoc Vuong accepted an offer to be an assistant to coach Pham Anh Tuan at Hai Phong club. At first, because he did not have a degree, he was registered as a caretaker. In December 2020, Quoc Vuong announced his departure from the Hai Phong team.
Next, the former midfielder born in 1982 joined Hoa Binh club, taking on the position of head coach. Under his leadership, Hoa Binh won the 2022 National Second Division championship and won a ticket to play in the 2023 First Division.
After 3 years of working, Quoc Vuong returned to Ha Tinh to work in August 2023 as a "deputy general" for coach Nguyen Thanh Cong, becoming a powerful assistant to his fellow countryman.
However, after one season working in V.League, Quoc Vuong decided to leave. He completed the B license course and continued to attend the A license course for coaches organized by VFF.
In the 2024-2025 season, Quoc Vuong will once again return to the position of head coach of Hoa Binh club competing in the national First Division.
Quoc Vuong's Marriage
The love story between him and his wife is interesting. They met after a coffee date, but did not have much of an impression on their first meeting. However, the gentleness and skillful speaking of the economics graduate made Quoc Vuong fall in love.
When Quoc Vuong faced career difficulties, Phuong Thuy was always there to encourage and care for him, helping him relieve the pressure. Although she did not know much about football, she always arranged time to go to the field to watch the former midfielder play.

The economics graduate even traveled from Vinh to Thanh Hoa to cheer him and his teammates on. During the time they were apart, Phuong Thuy personally prepared meaningful gifts for her boyfriend.
In September 2012, Quoc Vuong held a wedding ceremony with his wife in Vinh City, Nghe An. After more than 12 years of marriage, Quoc Vuong and his wife have 3 beautiful and obedient children.
Currently, Quoc Vuong and his wife still maintain a stable and happy life. Family is the support for the coach born in 1982 to continue to stick with his passion and football career.
