Many years after the scandal at the 23rd SEA Games (2005), Van Quyen's current life has stabilized. He returned to football in a new position, accompanying young players as a coach.
In 2021, when the hometown team faced many difficulties, coach Nguyen Huy Hoang was appointed as captain. At this time, Van Quyen was called up to the first team to support his senior. After 3 years, Van Quyen is currently still an assistant at Song Lam Nghe An club.

Previously, the former striker born in 1984 participated in coaching the youth teams of Song Lam Nghe An, from U11, U15 to U17 and U19.
In 2019, he was chosen as "deputy general", leading U15 with his former teammate Phan Nhu Thuat. The pair's understanding on the coaching bench brought U15 Song Lam Nghe An to the national championship.

After that, Van Quyen continued to accompany U17 Song Lam Nghe An. As head coach, he and his excellent students won the 2020 National U17 Championship.
Regarding his personal life, former striker Van Quyen has a happy and peaceful marriage with his beautiful wife. The couple got married in 2014 and have two lovely daughters after more than 10 years of living together.
For Van Quyen, his wife is a solid supporter, always standing behind to encourage and accompany her husband on every journey. When the Nghe An player encountered difficulties, his close friend was always by his side.

Pham Van Quyen was born in 1984 in Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An. In 1996, his life changed when he was accepted to practice amateur football at Song Lam Nghe An. After only 2 years, Van Quyen was given the opportunity to compete, won the national championship with his teammates and was voted the best young player in Vietnam.
Growing up, in the national team, the striker born in 1984 was considered a "different" talent. Van Quyen's most memorable mark was the goal against the Korean team, marking a new milestone for Vietnamese football. After that, he continued to have an impressive performance at the 22nd SEA Games. At only 19 years old, Van Quyen convincingly won the Vietnam Golden Ball award.
But just 2 years after reaching the peak of his career, Van Quyen fell due to a scandal at the 23rd SEA Games (2005). This is not only the sad story of the “golden boy”, but also the unforgettable history of Vietnamese football.
