Vietnam Women's Publishing House has just introduced to readers the book "How was Dad in the Past?" by author Nguyen Quoc Vuong. The book records stories about the childhood of a father, told to children with all love, sincerity and understanding.
Through short stories revolving around life, studying and playing in childhood, the author leads readers back to a past childhood. Those are very childish fears, simple games, memorable school days and experiences associated with Vietnamese villages in a different era. Although far from the modern world that children are living in today, that childhood still contains sustainable and emotional values.
From stories about their father's childhood, about grandparents... children have the opportunity to see a very close image: fathers are also ordinary like their own children, sometimes they don't study well, sometimes they are punished, sometimes they are engrossed in playing, sometimes they have experienced childhood mischievous games. That sharing helps narrow the gap between generations, so that children can easily empathize, and adults have the opportunity to reflect on their own childhood.

How was Dad in the old days?" is not aimed at comparative or extreme nostalgia, but gently opens up a dialogue between the past and now, between father and son. Through each story, family conversations become more open, contributing to fostering family affection; each page of the book leaves a small, gentle, natural lesson.
With a close, bright and rich storytelling tone, the book is suitable for parents to read with their children, for children to read on their own or for the whole family to share. This is not only a book for children, but also a family book - where everyday stories contribute to nurturing imagination, emotions and love connection.
