In the context of modern society, traditional standards about the role of men as economic pillars, having the right to decide everything... are no longer suitable. Nowadays, women in particular and society in general place many requirements on men in the family.
Ms. Nguyen Anh Lan (38 years old, office worker) said: "I think that men today must first of all know how to share. Not only sharing finances but also sharing housework and the responsibility of raising children".
According to Ms. Lan, in today's society, when men and women are equal, women also go out to earn money and care for their own careers. Therefore, the time and responsibility that husband and wife use to take care of their family and raise children must be equivalent.
"I don't ask my husband to wash dishes, sweep the house, and take care of the children all day. Just when I work at home, I won't see him sitting still playing games, watching TV and taking my wife's work as an obvious thing," said Ms. Lan.
For Ms. Le Phuong Thao (29 years old, business), respect is the factor that is put first by a man: "I hope men will respect their other half. They must respect their wife's point of view, have an open and understanding mindset. Otherwise, it would be difficult for the couple to go the long way together."
Pham Mai Linh (26 years old, teacher) wants her future husband to be loyal: "For me, the most important thing is loyalty and a sense of responsibility. When you are married, you must keep your commitment to your wife and children".
According to The Marriage, Dr. Loes Meeussen from the Center for Cultural and Social Psychology, University of Leuven (belgium) conducted a 2018 survey with 200 couples aged 22-59, to learn about the values they consider important in life.
The results show that women of all age groups feel more satisfied when their partner spends more time with their family. When men tend to prioritize family, women will reduce the "struggling" between work and family life.
Dr. Meeussen also highlights some typical qualities of the family man model.

Accordingly, the family man is always aware of the burden of each decision and action he makes towards the family. They do not avoid responsibility, from finances to feelings, and their trust becomes a fulcrum to help the family feel safe. He is also a person who is always present when needed, ready to support mentally and for specific things in life.
In addition to responsibility, they also possess the ability to deeply sympathize with the joys and sorrows of each member. This empathy is expressed through listening, encouragement and sharing in both words and actions. Thanks to that, they become a solid support in difficult times and a warm presence in every happy moment.
A family-oriented man knows how to communicate sincerely and openly, encourage members to express their emotions and solve problems together in a positive way, contributing to nurturing a cohesive and healthy atmosphere.
Loyalty and loyalty are also important qualities. They always keep their commitments to their loved ones, whether in favorable or difficult circumstances, thereby building lasting trust and long-term bonding in the family.
Patience is a virtue that is nurtured through the process of accompanying the people you love. Understanding that each family has its own complexities, they choose to handle the problem calmly and tolerantly, thereby keeping the common space in harmony.
Above all, the man turned to his family and treated all members with respect and fairness. It is this attitude of appreciation that creates a positive environment, where people feel listened to, cherished and have a place in the family.
