Mr. Herbert DeLaigle, 94, and Mrs. Marilyn Frances DeLaigle, 88, were married in 1948 and both passed away on Friday (July 12) at a hospital in Waynesboro.
According to WRDW, Mr. Herbert passed away at 2:20 and exactly 12 hours later, Mrs. Marilyn Frances passed away.
The couple met in a coffee shop in Waynesboro in 24, where she worked.
" frances works at a small coffee shop in Waynesboro called White Way cafe," Mr. Herbert DeLaigle said in a 2018 interview with the WRDW.
'I kept following her going in and out, going in and out and couldn't take my eyes off her. And finally, I took all the courage to stand up to ask if she wanted to go out with me at some point" - he said.
According to Mr. Herbert, the couple went to see a movie on their first date and just a year later he proposed.
During Mr. Herbert's service in the US Army during World War II, Mrs. Marilyn went to Germany with him for 6 years. In addition, he was a soldier who fought in Korea and Vietnam before being discharged after 22 years in the army.
The couple has 6 children, a total of 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and even a little. The funeral for the couple was held on July 15.
