The role of Mien is a milestone in Ngoc Xuan's career. To you, how does this role play a role in your career?
- I think for an actor, the first role is always the most important role. Coming to me is more meaningful than a first role. Mien is like a close friend of mine, with many interesting similarities. Mien and I have enough qualities so that I can transform into Mien and enough to be different so that I strive to learn. Thanks to Mien, I discovered many other aspects of myself. For example, I have the motivation to lose weight and change my body. Because Mien loves reading and literature, I have more motivation to read more books even though I already love reading.
Through this project, I have met and worked with many talented people. I understand more about cinema, and am motivated to confidently continue on this path.
When the name Ngoc Xuan is more widespread, many audiences expect you to become a screen beauty like Kaity Nguyen or Ninh Duong Lan Ngoc. Is that the goal you are aiming for in your career?
- When I studied acting, approached acting, it felt like I was learning about myself. I am young and have a lot to learn. I will change and mature. If I am lucky enough to be welcomed by the audience, I always cherish the titles that the audience gives me.
The actress has many names to remember, such as a hundred-billion-dong actress, box office guarantee, gems, and male god.
How do you want to be remembered by the audience?
- Currently, I hope the audience will remember me as an actor who always tries to break through, strives every day and brings many colors through my roles.
Ngoc Xuan came to cinema after many obstacles, from studying media, studying abroad in Australia to working in the theater stage before taking on the main role in cinema. Looking back on that journey, what is the motivation for you to persevere in pursuing your passion?
- Looking back on that journey, I felt nostalgic. Since high school, high school, I have developed a passion for acting when participating in plays at school. But I did not dare to study film, so I changed direction and chose a path that could approach cinema. I learned communication to be able to work behind the camera. I study abroad, work as a bookkeeper, do marketing to gain more experience and develop myself.
I think that, besides emotions and imagination, actors need to have experience and expertise. Therefore, when I was lost, I remembered very carefully to enrich my emotions and experiences. Deep inside, I want to experience more materials in life. When I went abroad to study and lived independently, I understood the value of money and labor.
My time as a bus conductor in Melbourne was when I learned the most. I work at a buffet restaurant, I observe each customer coming and talking to them. There were times when there was no money left in my pocket, I didn't dare call my parents to ask. Those experiences are extremely valuable to me, helping me understand life.
Or in the role of Mien, I remember my difficult childhood, the days when I ran on rice fields, releasing storks in the countryside in Tien Giang. Those experiences help me understand Mien better. Therefore, when playing the role of Mien, I feel like I am back to my childhood.
Ngoc Xuan is noticed by the audience for his beautiful appearance, even that beauty sometimes overshadows your acting ability. There are also opinions that Ngoc Xuan, who is too beautiful, will find it difficult to transform into a variety of roles. What is your opinion?
- I read many comments from the audience and always take note. Before becoming an actress, I was a KOL on Instagram, and there were some audiences who had followed me before. I really like sharing with everyone, meeting many people to have more experience, more abundant emotions, and more perspectives to play better roles.
