Ms. Le Thi Thanh Phuong - Director of the Center for Psychology and Human Development of NHC Vietnam - Quan Hoa Branch - explains the reasons why husband and wife are prone to conflicts during long holidays.
Change the pace of life, increase interaction time
The fact that husband and wife are often together is not a direct cause of conflict. However, long holidays change daily life, giving the two people more time to interact and the inherent differences are easily revealed.
Difference in needs for rest and play
One person wants to rest, the other wants to go out; one person wants to spend time with their family, and the other needs private time. According to experts, these differences can easily become the cause of arguments if not agreed upon in advance.
Housework and childcare
During the holiday, housework, childcare or spending can become problems when each person has a different arrangement. Especially, if a person wants their partner to actively share but does not say it, feelings of disappointment easily appear.
Lack of private space
According to experts, even as husband and wife, each person still has a need for time and private space to rest and balance emotions. Being together continuously for many days can make both of you feel stuck if there is no flexibility.
Old disagreements are easily reignited
If before the holiday, the couple has had unresolved issues, having more time together can make these disagreements more obvious and serious.
