In the last days of August, the atmosphere of preparing for the September 2nd holiday began to appear in many families.
For people with young children, a trip of a few days can often not be decided at the last minute. From transportation, accommodation to children's belongings, everything needs to be calculated in advance.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Thang's family (Coc San commune, Lao Cai) plans to take their two children to play in the white plateau of Bac Ha during the holiday. Before the trip, the first thing he did was to check his family's car. "Traveling with young children, I am more careful. Tires, brakes, engine oil and air conditioning must be checked first. Whether traveling near or far, safety is still the most important thing," Mr. Thang shared.
His wife is in charge of luggage. Children's clothes are divided separately, along with common medicine, personal belongings, water bottles and some snacks for children to use on the road.
For many families, preparing for a trip also starts from choosing a destination.
Instead of following trends, going to crowded places, some families prioritize places with moderate travel distances, suitable for children's health and with rest time.
Ms. Ha Thi Thu (Hop Thanh commune, Lao Cai) said that this year she did not set a too tight schedule. Each day, she only chooses a few main points, and the rest of the time is for children to play and rest.
“Before, my husband and I often thought that we had to go to many places to be worthy. Having children makes us feel that a reasonable schedule will be more comfortable,” Ms. Thu shared.
Many families also proactively book rooms early to avoid running out of places or price increases during peak days. Criteria such as location, parking space, rooms for children, and distance to the playground are also concerned.
In addition, parents with young children often prepare fever reducers, motion sickness medicine, bandages and some necessary items. Items that seem small but if missing on the journey can take the whole family time to find and buy.
According to some other parents, parents should not turn the trip into a too tight schedule.
Discussing with children about the destination, items to bring, or activities they want to experience in advance also helps children be more excited about the trip.
Mr. Bui Minh Hai - Chairman of Bac Ha Commune People's Committee said that the locality has reviewed and inspected the current status of rooms, hotels, and homestays that are capable of serving tourists during holidays and festivals.
“Basic assessment of the number of rooms, hotels, and homestays is also guaranteed, meeting the needs of guests during this period,” Mr. Hai said.
For many families, the September 2nd holiday does not necessarily have to be a long journey. More importantly, all members can leave their daily routine, have more time to chat and create common memories.
A car is carefully checked, a few sets of clothes are neatly folded, small medicine bags are placed in luggage...
Those seemingly trivial preparations are the way parents take care of a peaceful vacation for the whole family.
