Training survival skills, preventing drowning
During the summer, swimming pools in Hanoi are always crowded. The children's laughter, the applause and the instructions of the coach create a vibrant atmosphere, completely different from the usual quietness in the school year. This is not only a place to cool down, but also a place chosen by many parents to equip their children with life skills.
Taking her son to a swimming class at a center in Cau Giay district, Ms. Dang Thi Men shared: I took him swimming because I wanted to equip him with an important skill to prevent drowning accidents, especially in the summer. Every summer, hearing that there are many tragic incidents happening, I am very worried.
Ms. Men's concern is also the common sentiment of many parents. According to Ms. Hoang Thi Ha - a swimming teacher with many years of experience, the need for children to learn to swim in the summer is always very large: "Almost every parent has two goals: First is to prevent drowning, second is to create a safe and fun environment for children to exercise".
At the center of this female teacher, children are trained according to a systematic process, from getting used to the water to overcome fear, learning basic swimming styles to standing in water and handling emergency situations.
Helping children from sluggishness and dangers in the home
In addition to swimming, physical classes such as martial arts, gyms, and indoor mountain climbing have also become a "savior" for many families. gyms are a solution for sluggishness, myopia and even the potential risks when children are alone at home.
"During the summer vacation, I was very hesitant to leave my children at home. I have little time to study but focus on my phone and TV a lot. Not to mention the dangers of electricity and stairs when there are no adults to supervise, said Ms. Doi Thi Ha (Nam Tu Liem District). She decided to register her child to attend a gym-kids class so that he could be healthy and interact with friends in a safe environment.
Coach Bui Van Hoat - who has nearly 10 years of experience working with children - said: "Parents come to us with the desire to help their children improve their physical fitness, develop height, correct their posture and importantly, get rid of the habit of laziness. A stressful school year also causes many children to stress, physical activities are a great way to relieve psychological stress".
Mr. Hoat explained that sports such as kickboxing and boxing for children are not focused on combat but focus on basic physical exercises, reflexes and self-defense skills. The curriculum is designed specifically for each age group, mainly body-weight exercises (using body weight) to ensure safety and comprehensive development.
For overweight friends, at first they will be very lazy and do not want to go to the gym. We have to incorporate physical games to create excitement. Gradually, when you feel stronger and more active, you will be more self-conscious and love exercising, Mr. Hoat shared.
