From February 16, the North will have cloudy skies with drizzle due to the impact of weak cold air and the evaporation of the east, bringing moisture from the sea to the mainland. The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that from now until January 20, the North will continue to be affected by this weather pattern.
The Northeast and Hanoi are the focus of heavy drizzle and fog, causing the humidity of the air to increase by over 80%, causing a state of dampness, walls, and "swety" brick floors.
Without timely remedies, this moist environment can affect health, especially respiratory and bone diseases. Here are some tips to help protect your home from the negative effects of bad weather.
1. Limit opening to prevent moisture from entering
Many people have the habit of opening windows to ventilate, but on foggy days, this causes more steam from the outside to flood into the house. Instead, keep your doors closed, especially early in the morning and evening when the humidity is highest. If you need to be ventilated, you should only open the door during times of sunshine or dry wind.
2. Use air conditioners and humidifiers
Air conditioners with Dri mode will help reduce humidity in the air. If your home has the conditions, a dehumidifier will be the optimal solution to keep the space dry, limiting mold growth.

3. Using natural dehumidifiers
Some easy-to-find indoor ingredients that are very good at absorbing moisture such as charcoal, used newspapers, raw lime or baking soda. You can place small charcoal bags in corners of your home, wardrobe, or use lime to absorb moisture in damp areas.
4. Refrigerate the floor with a dry towel, avoid using water
wet floors not only cause discomfort but also pose a risk of landslides. Instead of rinsing your home with water as usual, use a dry towel or drain the water when rinsing to make the floor dry faster. A little tip is to mix floor cleaner with a little medicated alcohol, the alcohol will blow away quickly and help the floor become smoother.
5. Keep your wardrobe dry, avoid mold
Clothes left in the closet for a long time are easily moldy or foul. You can place a moisturizer bag, Dragon brain capture or a few pieces of dried soap in the closet to absorb moisture. If your clothes show signs of moisture, use a dryer or dry them on days with light sunshine.
6. Protect electronic devices from moisture
Electronic devices are prone to damage when exposed to moisture. When it is cloudy, maintain the operation of these devices by turning on the TV and computer for a certain period of time so that moisture does not accumulate in the device. If your home has less-used equipment, place a dehumidifier bag or a dehumidifier box next to it for protection.
7. Use essential oils to keep the space fragrant
wet air often carries an unpleasant odor. You can put a few drops of lemongrass, orange, lemon or mint essential oil in a diffuser or a cleanser to make the space more comfortable.

8. Check and maintain the drainage system
Poor drainage systems can cause water to stagnate, creating conditions for mold and bacteria to grow. Regularly check the drainage, making sure it is not clogged so that water does not accumulate around the house.
Immediately apply the above tips to keep your home dry, clean and cool on wet weather days.
