Many people who first met Mr. Vu Quoc Viet (29 years old, Tu Ky district, Hai Duong province) were surprised by his strange appearance: his hair was up to 1.7m long, neatly tied but still standing out in the crowd. Many people even asked to touch his hair to verify whether it was real hair, or just hairpins or connections.
Mr. Viet lives and works in Hai Duong, where he decided to grow long hair as a way to assert himself and make his own mark in the hair profession.
Mr. Viet shared that he was a hairdresser and tried many types of bleach that damaged his hair. In 2016, he decided to shave and grow long hair again as a way to refresh himself.
"Working as a hairdress but keeping a hairstyle like everyone else is difficult to make an impression. I want to have my own style so that customers remember me not only because of my skills but also because of this special appearance, he said.
From a random decision, long hair has now become his "personal brand". Mr. Viet is currently in the business of vegan shampoo and his long, strong hair has become a living proof of the product's effectiveness: "I don't advertise much, I just want people to clearly see the results on my own hair".

However, growing hair that is several meters long is not simple. He said that at first, when his hair first touched his shoulder, in the hot summer, he wanted to give up many times.
"But then I thought that once it had started, it had to go all the way. Gradually got used to it, now that I have cut my hair, I feel lacking, he said with a smile.
To take care of long hair, the Hai Duong man takes about 1 and a half hours to wash and dry each time. Every time he goes out, especially when riding a motorbike, he has to tie his hair tightly and wrap around his neck many times to avoid getting into the wheel.
Summer is a bit hot, but winter is a scarves, extremely warm he said jokingly.
Long hair also made him encounter many uncomfortable and funny situations: "Once I walked at night wearing a white shirt, tried my hair, and was considered a "ghost" by passersby. Once while walking, he step on his hair and fell back. Many people mistakenly call me "sister" or "ars" until I get back".

Although sometimes receiving a curious, even skeptical look, Mr. Viet is always comfortable with his choice.
I felt like I had done nothing wrong. This hair is a personal hobby, it does not affect anyone and helps me to be confident and different.
As a young father, Mr. Viet also shared another interesting story: My son is about to enter grade 1. I plan to advise my child to have his hair done neatly when going to school. Who would have thought that I would object immediately, saying that I also wanted to have long hair like my father.
In society, although still familiar with the model of men with short hair, Mr. Viet's choice of growing hair with meters of length - can be considered "strange" by many people. But for him, it was simply a personal hobby, maintained by perseverance, a little effort and a lot of love for difference.
