Strengthening propaganda and safety recommendations
In districts such as Kim Thanh, Thanh Ha, Cam Giang (Hai Duong province) where there are many workers, laborers - mass organizations, including Kim Thanh District, have organized propaganda activities on fire prevention and fighting at boarding houses and private production points.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh - Secretary of Kim Thanh District Youth Union said that in the past time, the District Youth Union has coordinated with the propaganda team of the District Labor Federation to deploy the model of "safe and secure boarding houses", focusing on fire prevention and fighting for workers and laborers.
"In addition to direct propaganda, the loudspeaker system of communes and towns has promoted clear effectiveness, the content on fire prevention and fighting is conveyed regularly and easily, contributing to raising awareness among people", Ms. Anh shared.
People are advised to limit cooking in rental rooms, use safe electrical equipment, do not Plug multiple devices into the same power source, turn off the devices when not in use and always keep the escape route clear.
Ms. Le Thi Huong - owner of a workers' boarding house in Phu Thai town (Kim Thanh district, Hai Duong province) shared: "We do not have the conditions to invest much, but we still remind each other to be careful. I often tell tenants to check the kitchen and turn off the power before going out. I myself also bought a few mini fire extinguishers placed in easy-to-see places, room when needed".
In addition to residential areas, in small production facilities, fire prevention work has also received more attention after the fire in Tu Ky. Although it is not possible to have conditions to invest in a systematic fire prevention system, some business owners have proactively inspected the electricity, arranged workplaces to prevent covers, and avoid leaving flammable objects near the heat source.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hien - owner of a green bean and fabric cake production facility in Thanh Ha district said: "I do a small business and have workers in the factory, so I have to be even more careful. I told the electrical wiring inspector not to smoke in the work area, but to arrange a handheld fire extinguisher in the kitchen corner and near the packaging area. Every year when there is an opportunity, we also invite brothers from the police to guide us on how to handle small fires."
Mr. Hien also believes that fire prevention is not to give up: Sometimes just forgetting an electrical device, leaving a paper box near the case is enough to cause disaster. Whatever is within your ability, do it right away, don't let it happen before you think about it."

Warning from many incidents
Recently, not only Hai Duong but also in many other provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Nam Dinh... there have been a number of fires in residential areas, factories, workers' dormitories, causing serious damage. These incidents all have in common that they occur in areas with high population density, limited fire prevention and fighting conditions, and weak people's skills in handling situations.
The authorities regularly advise people not to be subjective in their daily lives. From using safe electrical equipment, not leaving flammable objects near heat sources, to equipping fire extinguishers, paying attention to escape routes... all can help minimize the consequences when an incident occurs.
In reality, the fire protection system in many boarding houses and small factories is still limited. However, after recent fires, there have been positive changes from the people and the facility owner. Reminding each other to be more careful and proactively prevent when possible are remarkable changes.
Fire prevention and fighting is not only the responsibility of the authorities or the government, but more importantly, it is the awareness of each individual, each family, each production facility - those who live and work every day in an environment with many potential risks.
