Because of proactiveness, damage has been reduced and importantly, everyone is safe.
In parallel with monitoring the situation, proactive prevention and control is equally important. To avoid losing or damaging valuable assets when flooding occurs, families should proactively move electrical equipment, household items, important documents and food to higher floors or placed on sturdy shelves.
To avoid electric shock accidents, families also need to check all outdoor and indoor power lines. Disconnect electricity in areas at risk of flooding. Along with that, prepare clean water, necessities, medicine, flashlights, life jackets... in case of incidents and prolonged subsidence due to flooding.
In addition, families should also prepare a safe evacuation plan. Family members need to be consistent with the evacuation plan before floodwaters rise or riverbanks erode, understand the safe shelter location of the locality (schools, cultural houses, highlands) and short travel routes.
