Going to work after Tet, some speed up, others need time to adapt

After the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday, many offices in Hanoi are bustling with the atmosphere of returning to work.

From early morning, employees were present in large numbers, exchanging New Year wishes, lucky money and taking advantage of restarting work after a long holiday.

Ms. Tran Lan Anh (26 years old, communication staff) said that the first day of work brought her many mixed emotions.

I am quite excited to meet my colleagues again and start new plans. However, due to irregular Tet days, I am still a bit sluggish this morning, it takes a while to really focus on work," Ms. Lan Anh shared.

Contrary to some people's feeling of being slow, Mr. Hoang Quang Huy (29 years old, sales staff) expressed his excitement when entering the new working year.

For me, the first days of the year are an important time to rearrange goals and plans. This morning, I spent time reviewing the customer list, setting monthly targets and building a specific roadmap for the first quarter. Having a clear plan right from the beginning of the year helps me feel more proactive and motivated," said Quang Huy.

The spring opening atmosphere at the office therefore brings many levels of emotions. Whether starting quickly or slowly, adjusting the pace of life and rearranging plans is considered a necessary preparation step for a more effective working year.

Give your body and emotions time to adapt

Faced with the common psychology of office workers after long holidays, psychologist Nguyen Hoang Anh - Voice of Therapist office - said that feeling sluggish, lack of motivation or not ready to return to work after Tet is a normal reaction.

To catch up effectively at the beginning of the year, first of all, each individual should adjust their rhythm of life gradually, not demanding themselves to achieve high performance right in the first 1-2 days. Both the body and psychology need time to adapt," expert Hoang Anh said.

According to experts, resetting sleep hours, meal times and maintaining light daily exercise will help the body rebalance after a period of irregular living. In the first 3-5 days, to create a sense of initiative and increase motivation, everyone should start with small, easy-to-achieve goals.

This is also a suitable time to set goals for ourselves as to what we want to live and work for in 2026. When we reconnect with personal goals, we will have a clearer orientation," expert Hoang Anh said.

Psychologist Hoang Anh also emphasized that the most important thing is to allow yourself to be tired and not blame yourself. The feeling of difficulty integrating after Tet is a completely normal psychological reaction. When accepting that, each person will adjust better and return to work sustainably.
