Full moon worshiping time of the first lunar month
According to the suggestion of feng shui expert Nguyen Song Ha, on the 15th day of the first lunar month (the 15th day of the first lunar month, i.e. March 3, 2026 lunar calendar), the good hours include Mao hour (5-7am), Ty hour (9-11am) and Than hour (15-17pm).
Homeowners when burning incense should use odd numbers such as 3, 5 or 9. Among them, 3 sticks symbolize the Three Jewels, 5 sticks are often associated with wishes for wealth and fortune, and 9 sticks are used when offering to Buddha.
For the ancestral altar at home, folk wisdom recommends only lighting 3 or 5 sticks, instead of 9 sticks.
Things to note:
According to feng shui expert Nguyen Song Ha, besides preparing offerings thoughtfully, the full moon of the first lunar month is also associated with some things to avoid during rituals and activities.
First of all, on the Buddha offering tray, vegetarian dishes prepared in the form of fake salty dishes such as shrimp, fish or meat should not be displayed. The use of fake flowers and fruits for offerings is also not encouraged, because offerings need to ensure freshness and solemnity.
When placing offering money, homeowners should avoid using counterfeit money or money of unclear origin.
During the ritual, worshipers should limit wearing revealing or torn clothes, do not swear or curse. Some foods such as dog meat, cat meat, turtle meat, soft-shell turtle meat, snake meat or blood pudding should not be used on this day. Alcohol soaked in animals is also not suitable.
Folk people still circulate the concept of abstaining from fishing on the full moon day.
Before performing the ceremony, performers should keep their bodies clean, wash their hands with fragrant water and stabilize their mindset. Experts note that the above recommendations need to be viewed at a reference level, avoiding being understood in an extreme or superstitious direction.
