This is a classic Chinese song associated with the name of "first famous singer" Dang Le Quan, translated into Vietnamese.
The song was born from the loneliness of a musician, which he once considered unfortunate. Although it has been decades since its release, this is still a song loved by many audiences.
The composer of the piece, Mr. Thanh Khe, has passed away. The lyricist is Ton Nghi, who is 97 years old this year and lives with her family in Taiwan (China). The two are long-time friends and colleagues.
In the early 1970s, Thanh Khe quit his job at a TV station to study American music. When he returned in 1973, he brought many unfinished compositions, intending to ask his friend to write the lyrics.
Once, when Ton Nghi stopped by to visit and saw a note on his desk, he immediately asked. The musician laughed: "That was so unfinished, I was planning to leave."
But Ton Nghi held it up, feeling moved by the melody of death, immediately brought it home to write the lyrics. And from there, "The Moon speaks to my heart" was born.
The lyrics are a clear memory of Ton Nghi's first love, while the melody carries Thanh Khe's loneliness in a foreign land.
Initially, when the song was completed, singers Tran Phong Lan and Luu Quan Lam sang but were not famous. Shortly after its release, the song was listed as one of 91 banned music. The reason is that in the lyrics, there is a section about "a gentle kiss" that is considered "not strictly traditional".
Tran Phan Lan then sold the song's copyright to an entertainment company in Southeast Asia. Therefore, the song is still circulating abroad, coincidentally reaching Dang Le Quan's hands when she went to Singapore to perform.
In 1977, Dang Le Quan performed, creating a "fever". The song was also not lifted from the ban in her home country. Many singers later sang again such as Luu Duc Hoa, Truong Quoc Vinh, Mai Diem Phuong, Ngon Thua Huc...
Over the years, the song has been translated into many languages, performed by singers around the world, such as YoonA, Ryeo Wook (super Junior group), Bon Jovi, Hong Jin Young...
Later, when Dang Le Quan passed away in 1995, the song was always associated with her name.
