According to Koreaboo, recently, female idol Danielle of the group NewJeans held a live broadcast (livestream) from the studio. Her older sister, female singer Olivia Marsh also appeared on the livestream.
After the broadcast, a clip of Danielle singing BTS and Coldplay's "My Universe" attracted attention on social media.
On the online community Pann Nate, a post about the clip criticized Danielle for singing BTS's song while the NewJeans members are in litigation with ADOR Company and HYBE Group. The post attracted nearly 130,000 views.

However, Korean netizens disagreed with the post. Many opinions said that there was nothing wrong with Danielle singing BTS's song, because NewJeans only had a conflict with HYBE and did not have any dispute with the senior group BTS.
They left comments: “She’s suing HYBE, not BTS? Why are people going so far?”, “I’m an ARMY, and she has no disagreements with BTS,” “Who cares if she sings a BTS song? NewJeans isn’t fighting BTS,” “The song automatically plays when listening to Coldplay, it would be even weirder if she skipped that song”…
5 NewJeans members (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein) held a press conference and announced the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR from November 29, 2024.
ADOR then filed a lawsuit with the Seoul Central District Court, requesting a temporary restraining order against the members of the NewJeans group, to maintain ADOR's status as a management company and to prevent NewJeans from arbitrarily signing advertising contracts with third parties.

NewJeans members have created a new Instagram account called jeanzforfree, which they are active on following the termination announcement.
Last December, after completing their schedule in Japan and almost completing all of their pre-arranged schedules with ADOR as per their contractual obligations, the five girls left the dormitory provided by ADOR.
On January 23, the five members said they had hired a team of professional lawyers to represent them legally against ADOR and HYBE.
The members shared: “HYBE and ADOR have failed in their duty to protect and support their artists. Throughout our career, we have faced countless obstacles and even been in a situation where we could be replaced at any time. They used words like ‘long-term vacation’ to disguise their intention to end our careers.”
Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein stated, “The five of us have absolutely no intention of returning to work with HYBE and ADOR. We are determined to fight confidently in court.”
