Recently, American pop star Bruno Mars sent compliments and gratitude to his collaborators in his two latest music products, which are Rose (Blackpink) in “APT.” and Lady Gaga in “Die With A Smile”.
Bruno Mars wrote on Instagram: "My girls Lady Gaga and Rose are making history."
Along with that, he shared the achievement of “Die With A Smile” reaching 1 billion streams on Spotify in record time, and “APT.” topping the Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart.
“Die With A Smile” (released August 16, 2024) became the fastest song to reach 1 billion streams in Spotify history, after 96 days, beating the song “Seven” by Jungkook (BTS) featuring Latto, which reached 1 billion streams after 108 days.
At the same time, “Die With A Smile” surpassed the achievements of many songs by other European and American artists such as “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus (112 days), “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter (117 days).
Meanwhile, “APT.” (released October 18, 2024) is the first song by a Western artist to top the Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart this decade, and one of only five songs by a Western artist to reach No. 1 in history.
Rose is also the first female Kpop solo artist to reach the Top 1 of Billboard Japan Hot 100. Japan - the world's second largest music market - favors domestic artists and Japanese songs, so it is difficult for an English song to take over the Top 1 of the Billboard chart in Japan.
Currently, "APT." is topping the charts of major Japanese music platforms including Spotify and Apple Music.
Bruno Mars made a huge comeback this year. After releasing “Die With A Smile” and “APT.”, he surpassed The Weeknd to become the artist with the most monthly listeners of all time on Spotify, with 134.26 million listeners as of November 21.
On November 22, Bruno Mars and Rose will perform at the 2024 MAMA music awards ceremony, taking place in Japan.
Rose is scheduled to release her new song “Number One Girl” at noon that same day. According to The Black Label, Bruno Mars is also involved as a producer for the song.
