Today's audience demands more than a beautiful singer
- What do you think about winning the Intervision 2025 competition held in Russia?
- I think this victory is also a clear testament to the strictness in the requirements of the current audience and judges. A strong and good voice is not enough, but it needs to be combined: from voice, performance, stage, lighting to visual LED (LED image effect) - all must create a complete experience.
Honestly, if I only chose one song to stand still and show off my voice, I certainly could not surpass the other contestants. They represent more than 20 countries, many of whom have seniority, extensive expertise and almost perfect vocals. Just listening to them practice, I was " compelled", singing without a single note, it sounded like "swallowing a plate".
So I was forced to have a different personality. If vocals cannot be equal, compensate with other factors - closely following the theme, taking advantage of stage effects, lighting, visual... to create a complete performance. My team and I have listed each factor that can make a success, and consider singing as just a part of it, not all of it.
The current entertainment market is different, the criteria are much broader. Viewers not only want to hear the song well, but after watching it, they also want to fully feel the emotions, the story and the impression from the entire performance.
According to the regulations, each performance is about 3 minutes long, which is both an opportunity and a challenge: short but still has to convey enough messages. Therefore, I emphasize to everyone that during that time, the biggest goal is to fully demonstrate the spirit of Vietnam - culture, aspiration, perseverance and resilience of the nation. I want to do a performance in 3 minutes, that audience must hold their breath, must exercise.
I used to think that I would lose when taking the exam because the investment cost was up to billions of dong. But I accept it because I want to have the most perfect performance.
- Regarding the vocal part in the performance "Phu Dong Thien Vuong", musician Ho Hoai Anh shared that there was another version before the performance on stage. Do you want to refin this song further?
- Initially, musician Ho Hoai Anh wrote another melody (song), with higher notes. I can sing but am worried because on stage, in addition to singing, I also have to move, interact, and be affected by many factors. I asked the musician to make a safer version. The final version both ensures the singing part and supports the performance, and I think it is the most perfect overall, creating an explosion. If possible, in the future, I also want to try a few other versions so that the audience can have a new experience.
- In addition to the crew that created an explosive performance on the Intervision stage, will you have any move to show gratitude to poet Nguyen Duy?
- When inspired by the poem "Vietnamese Bamboo" by poet Nguyen Duy, musician Ho Hoai Anh - author of the song "Phu Dong Thien Vuong" - proactively called to ask for permission and thank the poet.
As for me, I also hope to return to Ho Chi Minh City soon to directly meet, thank and express gratitude to poet Nguyen Duy. This is something I consider extremely necessary, because it is the inspiration from the poem that contributed to the song's creation and success today.
Never be banned or doubted by parents

- Who did you think of at first when your name was called for victory in Russia?
- When receiving the award, the first person I wanted to report the news to was my parents. I often contact my parents via Facebook, calling them wherever I go.
But that day, because I didn't have a phone, it was not until about 3am, after the interviews, that I could call home. Mom was still up, had watched the entire competition, and both parents received the news from me in emotion.
- After winning the championship, he posted 2 separate articles expressing his gratitude but did not mention his parents. Why don't you often share publicly about your family?
- Actually, I don't want to express my gratitude to my parents through just a few statuses online, because for me, that can be said directly and expressed through actions. In my heart, I am always grateful for my birth and education because I understand that without my parents, I would not be here today.
I am proud to grow up in a family with Chung and Yen's parents who have taught me the smallest things in lifestyle and behavior: from knowing how to greet, invite me to eat, to reminding me when I accidentally lack. It is that training that has shaped my personality and behavior today.
What I am most grateful for is that parents always respect and support all of their children's choices. never be cam or skeptical, on the contrary, always trust me, so that I have more motivation and comfort to pursue my own path.
- After winning the Intervision championship, what gift do you want to give to your future?
- I often tell my parents: "I will give you whatever you want". In fact, before now, almost all of my parents' wishes have been fulfilled, so now that I have asked, I don't know what more to give.
For example, 3 years ago, my father - born in 1963 - wished to have a motorbike, something he loved when he was young but had not had the conditions to own. So I bought it for my father.
To be honest, I was worried because riding motorbikes was dangerous, especially when I saw my parents taking them all over the streets of Hanoi, roaming in the wind. But because I like him, I take him.
Now, thinking back, I still feel happy because I can do those simple things for my family. I am a person who lives towards family, from the way of thinking, the way of doing to the destiny.
And it's true that I have never felt any regret or hesitation about how I treat my relatives because loving my family is always the most natural thing in me.
Thank you.
