Netflix has just announced the poster and official trailer for the upcoming drama on October 3 - Genie, Make A wish (Vietnamese title: The Light of the World, the estimated).
"Genie, Make A wish" tells the story of the mysterious god Genie - Thanen Den (Kim Woo Bin), who wakes up from a thousand years of sleep to give 3 wishes that change the life of Ka Young (Suzy), a cold young girl who suddenly becomes the new owner of the Dieu lamp.
In the process of trying to adapt to the modern world with their monsterious nature, Than Den and Ka Young - a girl who is always reserved in terms of emotions, were caught up in a surprising and enchanting romance.
Previously, this was a highly anticipated project, as it marked the reunion of Suzy and Kim Woo Bin after 9 years, since the 2016 film Uncontrollably Fond.
The initial character introduction photos of the two actors released in February also received positive feedback. However, in the new official trailer and poster, the film has been embroiled in controversy.
In the introduction, the female lead Ga Young (Suzy) holds a male lantern in the middle of the desert, then Than Den (Woo Bin) gradually appears in the golden sandstorm and comes close to her.
In another scene, Kim Woo Bin uses finger transformation movements, making the sand grains the title of the film.
Many viewers think that the trailer looks funny and makes the film like a "B-class" project. Some viewers compared the trailer to a promotional part, especially in the final scene when Kim Woo Bin used the move to change the name of the film.
On the contrary, there are also comments from the audience, because the trailer is made in a humorous way, it makes them even more curious about how the film will develop.
In addition, the trailer for Genie, Make A wish caused controversy over religious issues. The Light of the Sea told Ga Young: "I will go all over the world to find you. Remember, our name is Iblis. We will find you".
In Islam, Iblis is the embodiment of the Devil. Therefore, some viewers believe that Kim Woo Bin's character is "devil transformation".
