According to Star News, in June last year, the Supreme Court overturned the original verdict of not being guilty against Mr. A, husband of actress Kyeon Mi Ri, who was prosecuted for stock price manipulation through false disclosure and making dozens of billions of won in illegal profits, transferring the case back to the Seoul High Court.
Mr. A was prosecuted for colluding with the General Director of Kim of Company B to inflate the stock price of Company A and sell shares at high prices from October 2014 to February 2016, thereby earning a profit of 2.37 billion won.
They have been accused of inflating stock prices by spreading false information, such as the involvement of famous star Kyeon Mi Ri and Chinese capital in the company's charter capital increase.
The first instance court sentenced Mr. A to 4 years in prison and paid a fine of 2.5 billion won. Mr. Kim, who colluded with Mr. A in committing the crime, was also sentenced to 3 years in prison and fined 1.2 billion won.
