Set at the Potato Research Institute in rural areas, the romantic comedy The Potato Lab revolves around the love story of Kim Mi Kyeong (Lee Sun Bin) - a potato researcher and So Baek Ho (Kang Tae Oh) - a cold and principle director.
Sharing with Singles magazine about the reason for participating in the project, Lee Sun Bin said that she accepted the offer because of the interesting script, and at the same time wanted to bring the audience a different atmosphere compared to previous projects: Because this story takes place in an unusual setting, I felt this was the perfect opportunity to express my acting in a new way, especially when the film was an ideal combination of romance and humor.
I also always hear great things about Kang Tae Oh from people around me, so I really want to act with him. On the other hand, the veteran actors I have worked with are all great, which makes me feel extremely lucky.
Regarding her character, the actress commented that Mi Kyeong is a lovely girl who is easy to impress with everyone. In addition, the characters in the film all have their own appeal. This is also what she likes most about the script.
Commenting on Kang Tae Oh's character, Lee Sun Bin said that at the beginning of the film, Baek Ho was like AI - completely reasonable and insensitive. Although this is not necessarily a bad thing, because in the research room, where everyone considers each other as family, he became more prominent.
Responding to this, Kang Tae Oh said: I dont know how others will view Baek Ho, but to me, he is a person with principles, logic, seems cold, motivated by reason rather than emotion. However, I believe that Baek Ho has a hidden warmth within him - no matter what others say.
The actor said that when playing such a cold character, it sometimes made him feel lonely among the tightly-knit cast of the Potato Research Institute.
Everyone else wears a laboratory jacket, while I always wear a perfectly tailored suit. That made me feel a little lost. Even Lee Sun Bin joked: I must feel lonely, to be honest, she was right - it was funny but also a little sad.
The Korean star added that although this is not an action film, there are many scenes that require physical strength. In addition, there are many romantic scenes where the main couple express their emotions through eye contact. Because the actor and his co-star worked well together, he was very excited to see the result.
On the other hand, because this is a project where Kang Tae Oh returns after serving his military service, he hopes that the audience will be able to see many beautiful scenes and enjoy happy moments through the story of Baek Ho and Mi Kyeong.
The Potato Lab is scheduled to air on the evening of March 1.
