Cines from the days of the liberation of the South and national reunification have clear differences and innovations compared to films born during the war.

There was a golden age when war documentaries took a pioneering position during the war, but they gave way to feature films. Feature filmmakers have extended their time to look back on the war, contemplate the great values of heroic dignity, national pride and the price of lost sacrifices.

This is shown in films reflecting life in the early peaceful days, in which the wounds of war both physically and mentally are still bleeding day and night.

But even the film that directly reflects war has a high level of comprehension, under the surface of bombs, smoke and fire, of the heroic fighting and sacrifice and loss that crystallized the philosophies and morality of the Vietnamese people.

Through the selective films on the theme of war at DANAFF III, Vietnamese and international delegates, filmmakers and audiences will feel the way of looking, thinking and creativity of filmmakers have changed significantly.

If in wartime, composers and directors tend to directly reflect and many valuable works are produced, however, the common point is that films are propaganda films, encouraging the fighting spirit of the army and people, then after the country was unified, filmmakers have extended their time to reflect.

From there, there are films that show war dramas, "little" identities, bad luck, and there are films that are general, containing the philosophies of the Vietnamese people.

22 films in the "Half-century of Vietnamese films about war" program will be screened for free during the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival at cinemas in Da Nang City.
