Yonhap News reported that the Kpop girl group IVE (consisting of Yujin, Liz, Jang Won Young, Leeseo, Gaeul, Rei) performed on stage at one of America's music festivals “Lollapalooza Chicago”, held at Grant Park, Chicago, Illinois, on August 3rd (local time).
This was IVE's first appearance at Lollapalooza, and also the first time the group performed on an international music festival stage.
The group opened with the hit song "I Am" and then performed 11 songs over about 45 minutes, including many of their other hits like "Baddie", "Eleven", "Love Dive", “After Like", “Heya"...
Notably, IVE collaborated with the show's live band to create rock versions of the songs “Royal" and “Accendio”, showcasing the group's unique charm and stage presence.
The members performed confidently, commanding the stage with bright smiles. Particularly, the group's live singing ability received a lot of praise.
The reason the group's live performance at Lollapalooza created such a positive effect is because IVE had previously been heavily criticized as a Kpop girl group for having many members who were disastrous at live singing and lip-syncing, especially members Jang Won Young, Leeseo, Gaeul.
However, over the past year, the group's live singing ability has significantly improved with each comeback. In fact, Jang Won Young's vocals on the Lollapalooza stage caused a sensation.
A post on the online community theqoo about Won Young's performance received 53,000 views and over 400 positive comments.
After the performance, member Yujin shared through the management company: "We took the stage with the aim of showcasing everything that the members, band, and dance team had prepared together.
Dive (IVE's fandom) and the audience present welcomed us warmly. Therefore, we were able to perform successfully.
It was a wonderful experience. I will repay you with great performances at future concerts".
IVE will hold the final concert of their world tour “Show What I Have" at KSPO Dome, Seoul (South Korea) on August 10-11.
Next, the group will appear at the “Summer Sonic 2024” music festival held in Osaka (Japan) on August 17 and in Tokyo (Japan) on August 18.
