As the project director, Tran Thanh said that after films that exploit family and social themes with many emotional details such as Bo Gia, Nha Ba Nu and Mai, the male director wants to bring a different color for Tet 2025, which is more cheerful and humorous.
Unlike previous Tet films, for this Tet film 2025, the male director held auditions to select actors. He also wanted to choose new faces instead of choosing familiar faces as before.
Regarding choosing Tieu Vy as the female lead, the male director said this was his reckless decision.
He wants people to change their minds about Tieu Vy, that she is not just a beauty queen.
Tran Thanh said that when some actors came to audition, he still thought the character should belong to Tieu Vy. When filming, he saw that Tieu Vy could do more than he imagined.
Tieu Vy shared that she always feels pressured in her new role: "Before, I often thought of myself as just a beauty queen, but today standing here as an actress, I am really proud of that and I want to get closer to the audience as an actress."
Regarding Ky Duyen, the male director said that this is a face with a lot of potential. Tran Thanh was afraid that Ky Duyen's fashion shows would make her expressions too strong and her charisma too strong. But when he saw Ky Duyen audition, he was surprised because she acted well.
"At first, I didn't make a decision right away and let some other people audition, but then I still felt Ky Duyen was the best fit for the role, so I called her in for the second round," he said.
