In the May 20 episode of SBS variety show Whenever Possible, hosted by Yoo Yeon Seok and Yoo Jae Suk, two members of the TWICE girl group, Sana and Jihyo, appeared as guests.
In this episode, Sana attracted attention when sharing about her time as a trainee and the periods when she almost gave up her goal of debuting in her Kpop group.
When she was only 17 years old, Sana left Osaka, Japan to go to Korea to pursue her dream of becoming a Kpop idol. Recalling her days of internship at JYP Entertainment, Sana revealed that her homesickness and harsh internship life had made her want to give up everything and run home.
The singer shared: "At that time, I often thought about secretly running home in the middle of the night. I even thought about how to quietly push my suitcase and leave without causing a stir.
But despite his bold thoughts, they never come true, as Sana realized: My passport is at the company. To escape, I would have to break into the company, that was unreal at all."
Sana made everyone laugh when confessing that not only did she think about returning home alone, she intended to run away with member Momo (Sana and Momo are both from Japan). She smiled and added, "TWICE might have had 7 members instead of 9 people."
While Sana looks back at the past with a happy and nostalgic spirit, fans once again pay attention to the hardships that Kpop trainees have to endure at a very young age.
Previously, TWICE members had shared many times about their internship years with a hard training regimen.
The company required Momo to lose 7kg in just 1 week, before her debut with the group. To lose weight quickly, TWICE's "dancing machine" did not eat anything other than acupressure and diligently went to the gym every day.
Because of too much pressure and fatigue, every time she went to bed, Momo was afraid that she could not wake up and this thought made her want to burst into tears.
The leader of Jihyo was also hurt by the straightforward criticism of his appearance. She spent 10 years as an intern and finally debuted, becoming the leader of TWICE in 2015.
TWICE is a music group that gathers idols from many different countries, including Korea, Japan and China. Thanks to the efforts and non- give up of the members, TWICE has now entered its 10th year of operation, achieving countless impressive achievements.
With a large fan base worldwide, TWICE is one of the most famous 3rd generation Kpop groups, along with BTS and Blackpink.
