YG Entertainment is causing a stir when it revealed its plan to debut a new girl group, just 1 year after Baby Monster started working.
Executive producer Yang Hyun Suk said that the 4-member girl group lineup has been determined and will introduce each member to the public one by one. The first members are scheduled to announce on May 28.
According to Yang Hyun Suk, the company is considering releasing solo songs for each member of the girl group next year. He noted that the decision to form a 4-member band was based on their "great chemistry".
This announcement surprised many people, because YG's girl group Baby Monster has only debuted in 2023. YG rarely release groups that are so close to each other, especially same-sex groups.
YG's first girl group, 2NE1, debuted in 2009, followed by Blackpink, debuted in 2016, and most recently Baby Monster, active since November 2023.
However, producer Yang Hyun Suk explained that YG has recently restructured its management approach to respond to fans' concerns about "YG artists releasing albums too late" in each group's career.
He admitted that it is acceptable for different YG groups to "promove at the same time" instead of waiting for a competitive order.
Yang Hyun Suk has reflected on why he was hesitant to launch Baby Monster while Blackpink was still actively promoting. With this, he implied that YG currently intends to speed up the release of a new group and allow multiple artists to promote at the same time.
Rumors about the identities of YG's 4 new girl group members are also of interest. A prominent name rumored to be in the lineup is the missing member of the group ILLIT, Youngseo.

Youngseo was initially known through his role as a contestant on JTBC's survival show "RU Next?" and co-organized with believeIFT LAB (under HYBE Group).
Youngseo won second place overall and qualified to debut as a member of the girl group ILLIT.
However, just a few months later, the management company announced that Youngseo had left the group after a general agreement to terminate the contract. No specific reason was given for her departure.
After that, there were rumors that Youngseo signed a contract with The Black Label, an affiliated company of YG, and was likely to be a member of the girl group MEOVV.
Although Youngseo was not named in the MEOVV group in the end, she is said to have appeared near the YG building and accompanied many other female trainees. This sparked rumors that Youngseo is one of four members of YG's rookie girl group.
There is still controversy over whether Youngseo is truly a YG trainee. But now, many people are showing support for Youngseo if she officially debuts in the new girl group YG.
Because Youngseo is a girl who has proven her talent and has an outstanding appearance since participating in the program "RU Next?". Her withdrawal from the group ILLIT once made many fans regretful.
