Artist Tran Hieu was hospitalized for more than 20 days due to metastatic cancer causing infection and kidney failure.
His health has improved since he was first admitted to the hospital, and he still loves singing.
On October 1, on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, doctors invited artists to perform and interact with patients in the hospital. He performed the song "My Mother" composed by musician Tran Tien. There are scenes where he forgets words because of poor memory.

In mid-September, he was hospitalized for emergency treatment for metastatic cancer. After surgery, on September 23, he entered the Central Geriatric Hospital.
5 years ago, he had a traffic accident, broke his ribs, gradually declined his health and suffered from dementia.
Artist Tran Hieu is the father of singer Tran Thu Ha, the brother of musician Tran Tien. He was born in 1936, famous for many songs such as "Con thu", "Ho keo phao", "Lanh tu ca", "Toi la Le Anh Nuoi", "Anh quan buu vui tinh"... He sang many musical genres such as Opera, red music, lyrical music.
He is a teacher for many famous artists such as People's Artist Thanh Hoa, Quoc Hung, singer Trong Tan... Many artists consider him as a second father because thanks to his help, their career flourished.
The artist was awarded the title of People's Artist in 1997 when he turned 61 years old.
In 2016, he was awarded the Vietnamese record as "oldest People's Artist ever to perform on a music stage".
In 2022, he launched the book "The Power of Language in Vietnamese Singing". This is a project that he has worked hard to research and accumulate experience in an entire lifetime of art and teaching.
In May 2024, in the program "Dien Bien Phu - Historical Golden Landmark" commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, he performed "Ho keo sung" "Duong len len len" with 100 artillery soldiers in acapella style (no music).
