On October 2, the Vung Tau Construction Investment Project Management Board (Vung Tau Project Management Board) said that it is implementing the expansion of Thuy Van Square on 2 land plots at 165 and 165A Thuy Van Street. These lands were formerly National Defense lands, with a total area of nearly 36,000 m2, and have been converted according to regulations to implement the project.
According to the Vung Tau Project Management Board, the total investment of the project is nearly 95 billion VND; of which the compensation cost is more than 25 billion VND; the construction cost is more than 53.2 billion VND along with other costs.
The project includes investment in building a square within 2 land areas; building a 16 m wide traffic route around the park; a system of trees, lighting, parking lots, rest stops to serve people and tourists, etc.
Notably, the road surface of Le Hong Phong and Thuy Van streets within the square has also been renovated, converting the structure of the soft shirt into a hard shirt, paved with 5 cm thick stone to complete the road surface.

The Thuy Van Square expansion project is currently underway, expected to be urgently constructed in more than 3 months, completed by the end of December 2025.
The Vung Tau Project Management Board added that it will not initiate the construction of an overpass around Thuy Van Street, to connect the entire square. The reason is that the construction investment process will be prolonged, and this project will obscure the image of the Tam Thang tower highlight.
Previously, Thuy Van Square and the Tam Thang Tower highlight project were completed on a campus of more than 16,000 m2 and put into operation, serving people and tourists from the National Day holiday on September 2.
Recently, the Vung Tau Construction Investment Project Management Board has launched phase 2 of expanding Thuy Van Square on 2 previous National Defense lands. After completion, Thuy Van Square will have an area of over 52,000 m2, creating a public space to serve people and tourists, as well as a space to organize major events in the area.
