In the new film, Doan Quoc Dam plays Dang - the director of an event company.
Dang is built as a successful, handsome businessman, always appearing in a luxurious office with a secretary by his side. Next to him was his beautiful, talented wife My Anh (Phuong Oanh). The two have a happy life in a newly bought half-million-dollar house and a cute son.
In the first 5 episodes, My Anh began to show signs of jealousy when she saw her husband's new assistant showing many signs beyond her limits. In particular, in a drunk situation, Dang fell on the female assistant. The young girl also showed signs of "getting lucky" by the talented director.
However, after 5 episodes, Dang's role has not really made an impression. Many viewers commented that Doan Quoc Dam's appearance and demeanor are not suitable for the "general" model.
His face is inherently sharp, so it is difficult to evoke the feeling of a man who is somewhat dependent on his wife according to the original script.
In addition, her dressing style, rustic dialogue and appearance are not flashy enough, making the character not exude the appeal of a successful director.
Another minus point is the love scenes of Dang and My Anh who were judged to be awkward and lacking in emotions.
On the film forum, many opinions said that Doan Quoc Dam's familiar acting has not yet escaped the rustic style, which has been associated with him in many previous projects.
Before comparisons with the original "30 is not yet the end" (China), Doan Quoc Dam admitted the pressure but affirmed that he did not copy: "We only borrow four stories, not repeat the whole story for the different cultures of the two countries".
This is not the first time Doan Quoc Dam has acted in a film with a foreign script. He previously acted in The Judge, The Sun Also Comes, Solspeed.
He believes that if he tries to build the image of a "domineering CEO", he is just an uncreative copy.
I want to portray a character that Vietnamese audiences can see as low- pitch in life, not an image far from reality, the actor shared.
Doan Quoc Dam also frankly admitted: "If my experiment fails, I will learn from experience. I did not repeat anyone, including the original, but wanted to do something different.
The actor always finds a way to renew each role. In Village in the Street, he practiced speaking fluently to portray the character Men who lost her voice after a serious illness. In Game of the Galaxy, he added constant blinking details to create a unique look for the role.
Doan Quoc Dam was born in 1988, real name Dao Trong Hung. He studied at Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema.
"The Wind Rings the Blue Sky" is the third TV series he co-starred in with Phuong Oanh, preceded by "S still under the deep blue River" and "Quynh Doll".
