On September 23, Xports News reported that Netflix confirmed that it will produce parts 2 and 3 of the hit medical drama The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call.
However, on the same afternoon, a Netflix representative told the media: "We are considering producing a sequel to The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, but nothing has been confirmed."
Launched in January this year, Trauma Care Center follows Baek Kang Hyuk (played by Joo Ji Hoon), a technology surgeon who worked in chaotic war zones. He was assigned to lead a "trauma team" that was lacking finances and operating ineffectively at a large hospital.
Before airing, the film received mixed reviews from the media, with some Korean newspapers strictly criticizing Joo Ji Hoon's role and not having high expectations for the work.
However, the Trauma Care Center has exploded more than expected, achieving success both domestically and internationally. The drama rose to the Top 1 of Netflix's most popular non-English-language TV show rankings in the second week.
In Korea, Trauma Care Center won the Best Film award at the 4th Blue Dragon Television Awards. Joo Ji Hoon became the Best Actor of the Baeksang and Blue Dragon Television Awards. Choo Young Woo also won the Best New Actor award of Blue Dragon for this film.
Although the producer is uncertain whether it will produce the next parts. But before that, the author of the original novel, writer Lee Nak Joon shared on his YouTube channel that "the film was made with the intention of making both parts 2 and 3".
Therefore, the audience is increasingly looking forward to the possibility of the film having many new parts.
