On February 5, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) organized a workshop on building the School Health Program for the period 2026 – 2035 with the participation of units under the MOET, Departments of Education and Training, and relevant international units and organizations.
Construction urgently, sustainable deployment
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Hoang Duc Minh - Director of the Department of Students said that the issue of school health is always of particular concern. This is reflected in the resolutions, policies, programs, and projects of the Party and State with the spirit of determination to implement, build urgently, and deploy sustainably.

According to Mr. Minh, students account for a large number in the country's population. In the new period, the School Health Program is built to be more advanced, with more learners, so there will be more complex and concerning issues. Therefore, the opinions contributed by delegates attending today's workshop on the framework, on the core values of the program are both a responsibility and concern for the development of students, concern for the Education sector and the development of the nation in the future.

Strive for 100% of schools to arrange staff to do school health work
Providing information at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Nho Huy - Deputy Director of the Department of Students said: The School Health Program for the period 2026 – 2035 is divided into 2 phases: the period 2026 - 2030 and the period 2031 - 2035.
Accordingly, in the period 2026-2030, the goal is to improve the effectiveness of school health work with 100% of schools arranging staff to do school health work (specialized or part-time); striving for 100% of staff doing school health work to be professionally trained in school health, first aid skills according to regulations.
Strengthen propaganda and education on school nutrition; ensure food safety, reasonable nutrition suitable for age for school meals. In which, strive for 100% of educational institutions to organize propaganda and education activities on reasonable nutrition, healthy and safe food, and prevention of harms of tobacco and alcohol for students in the education and training program and non-program activities.
This phase of the program also aims to ensure hygiene and school safety conditions. Strive for 90% of educational institutions to have sufficient drinking and domestic water to ensure quality according to regulations; 80% of educational institutions to have sufficient toilets for students and ensure hygienic conditions.
Along with that, the goals of strengthening communication, health education for students, prevention of school diseases; promoting the application of information technology, digital transformation in health management for students.
In the period 2031-2035, the program continues to maintain and promote the effective implementation of school health work, educational activities, care, protection and management of students' health in educational institutions to ensure comprehensive physical and mental care for students.
Strive for at least 80% of preschool education institutions, general education institutions, continuing education centers, vocational education - continuing education centers, and vocational secondary schools to have full-time school medical staff with medical expertise from intermediate level or higher. At least 95% of educational institutions have enough toilets for students and ensure hygienic conditions.
