Only changes in admission time
In recent years, educational institutions have conducted many admission rounds such as reviewing academic records, reviewing international certificates, reviewing competency assessment test scores, thinking, etc. These admission rounds often take place before the high school graduation exam.
Some schools announce the admission scores and results early, some schools announce them before the graduation exam takes place, so it is called the early admission round.
This leads to candidates knowing the university admission results in advance, so they have a mind-set of studying subjects for the graduation exam.
Therefore, in the Draft University Admission Regulations for 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training completely eliminates early admission.
Sharing about the above issue at the seminar "2025 Admissions Consulting: Changes to create fairness" organized by Lao Dong Newspaper on the morning of March 6, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Anh Dung, Deputy Head of the Department of Higher Education - affirmed that the complete removal of early admission only changes in terms of time, not reducing the chances of admission for candidates.
Training institutions still have autonomy in admission. In particular, all admission methods that the training institution wishes to use are still fully guaranteed according to current regulations" - Mr. Dung emphasized.
Accordingly, transcripts, foreign language certificate results are converted, or the competency assessment exams that students have prepared during their studies are still reserved and valid in the general admission round of the Ministry of Education and Training.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, eliminating early admission is aimed at fairness and transparency in university admissions.
Many schools keep admission methods
Also at the seminar, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoa - Head of the Department of Testing and Training Quality Assurance, University of Transport - said that the school still maintains stable admission methods. Including admission based on the results of the graduation exam, admission based on academic records and the results of the thinking assessment exam organized by the University of Science and Technology; admission based on the results of the competency assessment exam of Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University.
Ms. Hoa also noted that the school will double the Math scores for the method of considering high school graduation exam scores as well as considering academic records. At the same time, open a GT1 admission complex (Math, Physics, IT) to enroll students for majors such as Information Technology, computer science, computer engineering and majors related to automation...;
"Although this is not a traditional combination, for students with good abilities in the 3 subjects of Math, Physics, and Informatics, we believe that we will study well in the training program that the school enrolls students" - Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoa analyzed.
Dr. Luu Huu Duc - Head of the Training Management Department, Academy of Finance - also expressed his agreement with the removal of early admission, affirming that this does not affect the school's enrollment work this year.
In recent years, the Academy of Finance has not organized early admission. Therefore, stopping this method does not affect the school's enrollment work" - Mr. Duc said.
Giving advice to candidates, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Anh Dung also noted that candidates should monitor the admission information of schools because admission depends entirely on training institutions that use the admission methods that they choose.
Each school will have its own admission plan and admission method, so candidates and parents need to determine which major and field they like, on that basis, they choose the schools they love. From there, carefully research the enrollment plan of each school, realizing the differences in the enrollment plan to register appropriately - Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung shared more.
