From 6am on June 4, more than 5,700 candidates from many provinces and cities flocked to Hanoi to compete for a place in grade 10 at a vocational school.
At the school gate area, volunteers guided candidates to find rooms and divert traffic.
At around 6am, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha and her daughter traveled 20km from their home in Dan Phuong to take the entrance exam to Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted.
When arriving at the school gate, Ms. Ha carefully recorded the registration number, house number and room number on a small piece of paper and gave it to her child before entering the exam room.
"Parents like me are quite worried about their children's important exam. The child has clear goals and is very self-conscious in studying. No matter the result, I have done my best, said Ms. Ha.

Also present early, Le Thi Thu Ha - a student at a secondary school in Cau Giay said she was quite shocked to know that the admission rate for the English major was 1/22.9, meaning an average of 23 students had one admitted student.
The female student said that since completing the study program at school, she has spent a lot of time studying English carefully. In addition, the female student also signed up for a separate English thesis class to improve her writing skills, overcome her weaknesses so as not to lose unfortunate points.
According to the plan, at 8:00 a.m. on June 4, candidates will focus on completing procedures, disseminating exam regulations, then enter the general English exam lasting 60 minutes.

This year, the total number of candidates registered to enter the University of Education High School for the Gifted is more than 5,700 students, while only 420 students are admitted. The number of applications increased mainly in the English major, the competition rate was 1/22.9. Following is a IT class with a scale of 1/19,1. The specialized classes in Literature, Physics and Biology all have a difficulty rate of over 12.
The new point of this year's 10th grade Pedagogical entrance exam is that candidates will have to take 4 subjects, with the general subject being English with a test time of 60 minutes.
The General Math and General Literature subjects will combine 70% of the thesis score and 30% of the multiple-choice score, the test time is 120 minutes. Last year, the exam format for these exams was 100% essay, with a test duration of 90 minutes.
In addition, the test time for specialized subjects has also increased to 150 minutes, except for specialized subjects for English and Chemistry with a test time of 120 minutes.
Candidates included in the admission list must be candidates who are eligible to take the exam, take all 4 exams, do not violate exam regulations, and do not take any exam under 3.5 points.
