Mr. Nghiem Van Binh, Head of the Exam Management and Quality Assessment Department, Hanoi Department of Education and Training (DET) shared the changes in the 2025 10th grade entrance exam at the Conference on guiding the 10th grade exam on the morning of June 3.
Accordingly, the 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi this year has 10 changes that candidates and parents need to pay attention to:
Change of name/ title (no change in functions and tasks): Supervisor/officer in charge of the exam; Supervisor/officer in charge of supervision.
No more names for the subjects of Chemistry, Physics, Biology, History, Geography. Instead, there are Natural Science subjects (with knowledge content for candidates taking the entrance exam for the Physics, Chemistry and Biology class), History and Geography subjects for candidates taking the History and Geography class.
Testing method: Candidates taking the Natural Science exam will take a test directly on the test, in previous years only the Foreign Language exam was done in this way.
The time for all subjects is 150 minutes. Thus, Chemistry and Foreign Language increased by 30 minutes compared to previous years.
Candidates brought into the competition room: writing Butts, lines, pens, erase, eikes, graphic drawing measures, painting tools, handheld computers without document drafting functions, no memory cards.
Compared to last year, the list of additional tools for drawing images and measuring urban plans; remove Atlat Geography, Circular Table, soluble table (used in Chemistry).
5 minutes before the end of the examination, the candidate was reminded by the supervisor to check the number of newspapers, the information on the exam paper, the title on the multiple -choice answer sheet. This content is not available every year.
The principal is responsible for sealing and preserving the excess exam questions/exams that are not used in the exam room, absolutely not revealing or leaking the exam questions.

Strengthening anti-fraud
Also at the Conference, Hanoi City Police said that the professional departments of the city police will continue to detect, fight, and eliminate groups that sell technology equipment for exam fraud.
On the side of the Department of Education and Training, Mr. Binh noted that teachers should strictly follow the regulations and principles of exam supervision, not be negligent, subjective, and not handle situations without permission.
Any feedback about the exam questions and unusual incidents in the exam room must be immediately reported to the test score leader, through the supervisor.
Candidates participating in the exam should pay attention to the number of newspapers, carefully check the number of pages, print quality and title code. If the abnormal detection is detected (torn, missing, broken, smudged ...), the candidate must immediately notify the supervisor, within 5 minutes from the time of calculating the test. Candidates are submitted after 2/3 of the time with essay.
According to the Department of Education and Training, at this year's 10th grade entrance exam, the whole city has 115,951 candidates registered to take the exam (including 102,860 candidates taking the non-professional public exam, 13,091 candidates taking the exam). The exam has 268 independent candidates.
The city has arranged 4,411 exam rooms, 201 reserve exam rooms; 201 exam locations in 30 districts, towns and cities.
With such a scale, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has mobilized 15,173 cadres, teachers, employees, and police to participate in organizing exams at exam locations and more than 2,000 cadres and teachers to participate in marking exams.
