The UK Higher Education Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) is an independent, internationally reputable organization responsible for ensuring and improving the quality of higher education in the UK and globally.

QAA's accreditation standards include: Quality assurance policies; Design and approval of training programs; Learning, teaching and evaluating with learners at the center; Enrollment, learning process, recognition and degree issuance for learners; Lecturer team; Learning resources and student support; Information management; Information disclosure; Continuous and periodic supervision of training programs; Periodic external quality assurance.

To achieve QAA certification, higher education institutions need to go through a 5-stage roadmap including: Information seeking, application registration; Preliminary survey; Official survey; Review, recognition and certification; Mid-cycle improvement.

Previously, in October 2025, the QAA working delegation conducted a preliminary survey at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Based on the recommendations of experts, the school has implemented improvement activities, and at the same time developed a University-level self-assessment report, as a basis for preparing for the official QAA standard survey taking place from January 13-15, 2026.

According to Hanoi University of Science and Technology, in the process of evaluating according to QAA standards, the unit has the opportunity to comprehensively review the internal quality assurance system, thereby identifying strengths, contents that need to be further improved and developing a plan to improve quality in the next period; and at the same time consolidate cooperative relationships with UK partners, opening up opportunities for academic exchange, training and transfer for students, and strengthening research cooperation in the coming time.
