Decree 73 bonus: In some places, teachers receive more than 16 million VND
At this time, Decree 73 bonuses are an issue of concern to many teachers.
Previously, when Decree 73 did not exist, most public schools did not have budget funds to pay Tet bonuses to teachers. But from 2025, civil servants and public employees in general will have additional extraordinary bonuses and annual periodic bonuses according to Decree 73/2024/ND-CP.

Bonuses under Decree 73 for officials, civil servants, and public employees are not spent in a flat or fixed way with salary coefficients. Units can plan to spend bonuses for each of the first 6 months of the year and the last 6 months of the year, based on assessment results to create additional income, especially for contract teachers who are having many recommendations on this matter.
The annual bonus fund is specifically determined, not included in the commendation fund according to the Law on Emulation and Commendation, with a level equal to 10% of the total salary fund according to positions, titles, ranks, grades and military ranks of subjects in the payroll of agencies and units, excluding allowances.
With this calculation method, teachers at different educational institutions will enjoy bonuses of Decree 73 at different levels.
According to Lao Dong's records, most schools divide the bonus into 2 parts: Extraordinary and regular. The extraordinary spending part will be for teachers who have many achievements in the year such as certificates of merit, certificates of commendation, prizes from competitions... Many schools in Hanoi pay bonuses to teachers ranging from about 10 - 12 million VND, depending on the level of task completion. The evaluation and payment can be done once every 6 months or calculated for the whole year.
In Thanh Hoa, some schools pay teachers the highest bonus of up to 16.3 million VND.
I received a bonus of Decree 73 of 13.8 million VND, corresponding to the level of good completion of the assignment. Some teachers who excellently completed their assignments received about 16.3 million VND, while teachers who completed their full assignments received more than 11 million VND," Ms. Le Thi Hang - a secondary school teacher in Thanh Hoa - shared.
Ms. Le Hanh - a high school teacher in Quang Ngai - also received the bonus money of Decree 73 right in December 2025: "My school divides it according to the level of task completion to reward. The highest level is 12.3 million VND, applied to teachers who excellently complete their tasks".
While many teachers are happy to receive the bonus amount of Decree 73 right before the New Year holiday, Ms. Nguyen Nga, a primary school teacher in Hanoi, is anxiously waiting for this bonus amount.
Ms. Nga's school considers rewards every 6 months. The reward for good performance is about more than 6 million VND.
We will receive this bonus after the Lunar New Year" - Ms. Nga said.
How to calculate bonuses Decree 73
According to Decision 786/QD-BNV of 2024 on the Regulation on the implementation of the bonus regime of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the method of determining the base periodic bonus level is as follows:
Basic periodic bonus level = Total annual periodic bonus expenses / [(Number of individuals who excellently completed tasks x 3.0) + (Number of individuals who completed tasks well x 2.4) + (Number of individuals who completed tasks x 1.0)].
On that basis, the specific bonus amount is determined as follows:
Individuals who excellently complete tasks: Receive 3 times the base periodic bonus level.
Individuals who complete tasks well: Receive 2.4 times the base periodic bonus level.
Individuals completing tasks: Enjoying the base periodic bonus level.
For teachers of non-public schools, according to the provisions of Article 104 of the 2019 Labor Code, the Tet bonus level will be based on the school's operating results and the level of work completion of teachers.
The bonus regulations will be decided by the employer and publicly announced at the workplace after consulting with the employee representative organization at the grassroots level.
It's a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit.
