On September 17, the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province informed that before the new school year 2026 - 2027, the whole province has 1,374 educational institutions from preschool to general education, continuing education and vocational education.
Of which, there are 1,267 public educational institutions and 107 non-public educational institutions.
After arrangement and streamlining, in the new school year, the entire sector has 625 educational institutions under management, with 20,710 classes and 678,168 students.
However, the human resource problem is creating no small pressure on the Dak Lak Education sector. The total current teacher payroll is 32,956 people, while the demand according to norms and the actual organizational situation is 35,030 people. Thus, the whole province needs to add 3,147 teachers.
In which, preschool level needs to add 638 teachers; primary school 1,232 teachers; secondary school 752 teachers; high school 376 teachers and continuing education 149 teachers.
The teacher shortage occurs in the context of a large provincial area, unevenly distributed population, many schools with remote locations and located in remote areas, remote areas, and areas with difficult socio-economic conditions. This makes it difficult to arrange, transfer and ensure sufficient teachers between areas.
Along with the shortage of teachers, facilities continue to be a major pressure for the Dak Lak Education sector.
Through review, the whole province still lacks about 1,260 classrooms. Of which, preschools lack 654 rooms, secondary schools lack 842 rooms; while primary schools have an excess of 31 rooms and high schools have an excess of 205 rooms. The uneven situation of surplus and shortage between localities makes the number of surplus classrooms in this place unable to directly compensate for the shortage in another place.
In the 2026-2030 period, the province is expected to invest in about 320 classrooms, 287 subject classrooms, 78 learning support rooms, 665 auxiliary items, 126 sports items and 28 common living rooms. The total estimated cost needs are about 1,510 billion VND.
Ms. Le Thi Thanh Xuan - Director of Dak Lak Department of Education and Training - said that the Education sector continues to focus on solving the shortage of teachers, classrooms and teaching equipment; prioritizing resources for difficult areas and inter-level boarding schools.
Along with that, the sector will continue to complete the handover of assets after arrangement; ensuring conditions for semi-boarding, clean water, kitchens, fire prevention and fighting and school safety.
According to Ms. Xuan, the department also proposed that the Central Government issue synchronous guidelines on standards for facilities, equipment, governance models and operating fund norms for inter-level boarding schools; and at the same time support capital sources for localities to gradually overcome the shortage of classrooms and minimum teaching equipment.
