Up to now, more than 120 universities have announced the expected admission methods for 2025, in which many major universities have " resourcefully said no" to considering admission based on academic records.
For example, Hanoi National University of Education, two methods eliminated by the school include considering high school transcripts and considering admission combining competency test scores with transcript scores, graduation exam scores or competency assessment scores. academic transcript scores are only a separate admission condition for pedagogical majors to Hanoi National University of Education.
The school uses 3 admission methods including: Admission based on high school graduation exam scores in 2025; direct admission, priority admission for candidates with outstanding abilities and achievements; admission based on 2025 competency assessment test scores organized by Hanoi National University of Education.
Similarly, the University of Education (Thai Nguyen University) will not consider early admission based on transcripts and will not organize the competency exam in Preschool Education in 2025.
At Hanoi University of Science and Technology, from 2022 onwards, the school will use academic transcript scores as a condition when admission based on high school graduation exam scores and thinking assessment. However, in the past 2 years, the school has also abandoned this requirement.
In 2025, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will maintain 3 stable admission methods including: talent admission, thinking assessment test results and high school graduation exam results, not separate admission based on academic records.
The National Economics University also eliminated the admission method based on transcripts. The reason given by the school is that over the years, the school has found that most excellent students in specialized schools are eligible for admission with international certificates or separate exam scores. Therefore, removing the consideration of academic records will reduce the virtual rate, because a candidate can use many methods.
In 2025, the National Economics University will maintain 3 admission methods compared to 2024, including: direct admission (2%); combined admission (83%) and admission based on the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam (15%, down 3% compared to 2024).
Hanoi Medical University also does not consider admission based on transcripts because of concerns about unfairness for students (because the exam standards and scoring at each high school are different).
Some universities also abandon independent consideration of high school transcripts, instead, use them in combination with other conditions and criteria for admission.
For example, according to the newly announced admission plan, the University of Commerce plans to enroll more than 5,320 students for the 2025-2026 school year with 6 methods including: Direct admission and priority admission; considering high school graduation exam scores in 2025; considering the results of capacity assessment, thinking assessment; considering combining graduation exam scores, academic records with international certificates; considering combining graduation exam scores and provincial-level excellent student awards.
In previous school years, the University of Commerce considered independent admission based on academic records for admission.
This year, Hanoi University of Industry will conduct direct admission (no limit on quotas); consider international certificate scores or excellent student awards combined with high school transcript scores for all three years of the subjects according to the combination (10%); based on graduation exam results (80%); based on Hanoi National University's competency assessment test scores combined with academic records (5%) and Hanoi University of Science and Technology's thinking assessment test results combined with academic records (5%).
Compared to 2024, the school will abandon independent consideration of academic transcript scores, instead combining this criterion with international certificates, excellent student awards, and competency and thinking assessment test scores.
