After 2 days of exams (June 1st and 2nd), the 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City for the 2026-2027 school year has officially closed. According to records from candidates and teachers, the exam questions in all three subjects Literature, English and Mathematics were assessed as manageable, somewhat easier than in previous years.
In Literature, Nguyen Ngoc Tran, a candidate taking the exam at the Vo Truong Toan Secondary School exam site (Saigon ward), said that the exam questions did not challenge knowledge but focused on thinking ability and how to perceive social issues.
The exam is at a moderate level, not too difficult but also not easy to get high scores," Ngoc Tran commented.
According to Mr. Vo Kim Bao - Head of Professional Department of Literature, Nguyen Du Secondary School (Ben Thanh ward), the exam has a wide scope, comprehensively testing students' knowledge learned in the secondary school program. However, the questions do not require rote learning but focus on assessing practical ability, thinking ability and problem solving.
With this exam, students can master the knowledge they have learned, regardless of sample essays or sample solutions, they can still meet the requirements well and get 8 points or more," Mr. Bao assessed.

In the English subject, many candidates at the Colette Secondary School exam site (Xuan Hoa ward) assessed the exam questions as quite "easy to breathe".
Nguyen Phuc Hoang Son said that this year's exam questions are not much different from the sample exam, and there are no questions that are too difficult or puzzling.
Meanwhile, Math - a subject that usually has the highest differentiation in the 10th grade entrance exam - also received many positive feedbacks from candidates.
At the exam site of Nguyen Du Secondary School (Ben Thanh ward), many students commented that the exam questions had a familiar structure and moderate difficulty. Le Ba Khanh Duy said that this year's exam questions were easier than last year.

Mr. Dang Hoang Du, a math teacher in Ho Chi Minh City, assessed that this year's exam questions are lighter and easier to approach compared to 2025. Questions at the level of recognition and understanding closely follow the curriculum, similar to the types of questions students have reviewed at school.
Students who review carefully can completely identify the solution direction. With this exam, students with average academic ability are still able to achieve 6-7 points relatively easily," Mr. Du assessed.
According to Mr. Du, this year's score distribution is likely to be concentrated in the range of 7-8 points and the number of exam papers achieving 10 points may increase compared to last year.
Because the exam questions for all three subjects are considered appropriate, Mr. Dang Hoang Du predicts that the benchmark scores for 10th grade of many public high schools in Ho Chi Minh City may increase compared to the previous school year.
The 10th grade entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year in Ho Chi Minh City has more than 151,000 registered candidates. Public high schools enroll about 118,500 students, equivalent to about 78% of candidates with a chance of passing.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, exam marking will take place from September 3rd. 6. Exam results are expected to be announced after the completion of the 2026 high school graduation exam (after June 12th).

Each exam paper is graded in two independent rounds by two examiners from two different grading teams to ensure objectivity and accuracy.
