Benchmark scores are likely to decrease by 1-3 points
According to M.A. Nguyen Quang Trung - Deputy Head of Communication and Enrollment Department, University of Commerce - the score distribution of exam subjects and admission combinations in 2026 all slightly decreased compared to 2025. This is one of the bases to forecast that the university benchmark score level will decrease.
In addition to the decrease in score distribution, this year the Ministry of Education and Training also tightened the conversion of foreign language certificates and bonus points. With these two factors, it can be predicted that the benchmark scores of most universities will be lower than in 2025" - Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung assessed.
Regarding the training programs of the University of Commerce, Mr. Trung predicts that the benchmark score may decrease from 1-3 points by major.
However, the reduction of majors will not be uniform. For majors with high competitiveness and using mathematical combinations such as economics, management or technology, the benchmark score may remain unchanged.
According to this year's score distribution, the number of candidates achieving excellent scores in Mathematics is still quite high. Therefore, some majors will keep the benchmark scores unchanged, even slightly increasing compared to last year" - Mr. Trung said.
Regarding the input quality assurance threshold, Thuong Mai University is expected to maintain the floor score of 20 points as in previous years. The floor score and conversion table will be officially announced after completing the procedures according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Candidates should divide their aspirations into 3 groups
Giving advice to candidates in the application stage, Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung said that choosing a major should be based on their abilities, interests and scores, instead of just chasing after majors with high competition rates.
Accordingly, candidates should divide their aspirations into three groups. About 30% of aspirations are for their favorite majors, 40% are for majors suitable for the current score level and the remaining 30% are safe aspiration groups, with benchmark scores in previous years lower than candidates' scores to increase the likelihood of admission.
Students should carefully research the major before registering. There are many cases of choosing an attractive major at the present time, but after studying, they realize that it is not suitable for their abilities and interests" - Mr. Trung shared.
In addition to choosing a major based on exam scores and personal preferences, candidates should also consider international career-oriented training programs with output standards that meet the new requirements of the labor market.
According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung, students studying in the school's international vocational orientation programs will learn from 30-40% of specialized modules in English, and also have access to businesses right from the first year.
In the training process, the school also cooperates with businesses to enhance practical experience, helping students form career orientation early. In addition, Thuong Mai University also integrates digital competence and skills to apply artificial intelligence AI into the training program.
“While studying any major of the school, students are equipped with digital capacity and the ability to apply AI in various fields to meet the requirements of digital transformation as well as improve competitiveness in the labor market” - Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung added.
