According to the 10th grade high school entrance exam plan for the 2025-2026 school year of the Hanoi People's Committee, students taking the 10th grade entrance exam from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Nguyen Hue, Chu Van An and Son Tay will take a specialized exam on June 9, after completing the exams for grade 10 public high school.
The specialized subject exam includes questions that are consistent with the requirements of the subject and the goals of junior high school level under the 2018 General Education Program, mainly in the 9th grade program at the junior high school level, ensuring the levels of awareness: Understanding, application.
The natural science subject will be admitted to the specialized course according to the following content: With the specialized course on physics, energy machles and transformation; the specialized course on chemistry, physical machles and changes of substances; the specialized course on biology, the life machles.
History and geography subjects will be admitted to the specialized division class, including the history major in the history major; the geography major in the geography major. Students take an alternative math exam to be admitted to the IT class.
Regarding the exam format, the subjects of applied Math, Literature, History and Geography will be taken in the form of an essay; Foreign language (taken in foreign language classes) will be taken in the form of an essay combined with objective multiple-choice questions to assess listening, reading, and writing skills (with an listening section). The natural science subject is an essay exam combined with objective multiple-choice tests.
Time for taking the specialized subjects exam: 150 minutes/exam.
Regarding admission conditions, students (or parents or guardians of students) have permanent residence in Hanoi; learning and training results (academic performance and conduct) for the entire school year of junior high school classes are quite good or better.
Students must go through 2 rounds, in which round 1 is the preliminary round for students who are eligible for admission and have valid application documents; round 2 is for students who have passed the preliminary round in round 1.
Students with a preliminary score of 8.0 points or more will be admitted to the second round. The entrance exams for grade 10 public high school are not specialized with a coefficient of 1, the specialized subject exam is coefficient of 2. The test scores of the subjects are calculated on a scale of 10.0.
Each student can register to attend specialized classes at two of the four specialized high schools: Hanoi-Amsterdam, Nguyen Hue, Chu Van An and Son Tay.
Students can register their wishes to enter the same major from two schools, but must be ranked in order of priority, which is the wish school 1 and the wish school 2.
Students can register their wishes for different majors of the two schools as long as the exam for those majors do not overlap.
