Nearly 3,300 candidates take the 6th grade exam at Cau Giay school, the competition rate is higher than last year

Hanoi - Nearly 3,300 candidates have just completed the 6th grade entrance exam at Cau Giay Secondary School. With the quota of 440, on average, one in seven students take the exam.

On June 15, about 3,250 candidates completed the entrance exam for grade 6 at Cau Giay Secondary School (Cau Giay District, Hanoi).

The three competency assessment tests, including Math, Vietnamese and English, are in the form of multiple-choice tests combined with essay.

The test time is 45 minutes per subject, mainly knowledge from the 5th grade program. The scores for each subject are calculated on a scale of 10.

Phan Dinh Anh Tu (Mai Dich Primary School, Cau Giay District) said that he took the competency assessment test quite well and was most confident in English.

Anh Tu's mother - Ms. Doan Thi Oanh said that the family's biggest wish is to have their child pass the entrance exam to Cau Giay Secondary School. Another option is to send her child to Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary School.

"My child's important exam has passed, so parents are somewhat relieved. I hope my child will have good exam results and be admitted to the dream school" - Ms. Oanh said.

In the 2025 - 2026 school year, Cau Giay Secondary School will admit 440 6th grade students, equivalent to 11 classes. With the number of candidates registered to take the exam being 3,284, the competition rate is 1/7.46, on average, one in seven candidates took the exam.

Last year, about 2,700 candidates registered to take the Cau Giay High School exam. With the quota of 440, the admission rate is 1/6.1, on average, one in 6 students took the exam.

Cau Giay Secondary School adds 1-2 priority points to students subject to the policy, such as ethnic minorities, war invalids, martyrs, etc. If they belong to many groups, students will only receive the highest bonus.

The admission score is the total capacity assessment score and priority score, up to a maximum of 32. Students are considered from top to bottom, until they meet the quota.

It is expected that by June 21, the benchmark score for grade 6 at Cau Giay Secondary School will be announced.

In the next school year, the expected tuition fee of Cau Giay Secondary School is 3.63 million VND/month.

Hanoi has 5 high-quality public secondary schools, including Nam Tu Liem, Thanh Xuan, Cau Giay, Le Loi - Ha Dong, Chu Van An - Long Bien.

According to the regulations of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, these schools are allowed to enroll 6th grade in different schools, by considering academic records, assessing capacity in the form of questions, writing, presentations, etc.

The Department did not provide specific requirements on the form of organization of testing, evaluation as well as the time for each subject as in previous years. The locality will decide on this, based on the proposals of the schools, ensuring fairness, objectivity, transparency and suitability with actual conditions.
