According to Ho Chi Minh City National University (VNU-HCM), the extension of registration time is to create favorable conditions for candidates due to the impact of the recent Binh Ngo Tet holiday.
Accordingly, instead of ending on February 23 as initially planned, the registration time is extended until the end of February 24. The deadline for paying the exam fee for phase 1 is February 25.
To complete the procedures, candidates need to complete all steps including personal information declaration, registration of exam locations and payment of fees within the prescribed time. Only dossiers that complete the correct and sufficient procedures will be confirmed as valid.

Previously, from January 24, the registration portal for the first round of the capacity assessment exam of VNU-HCM was opened at https://thinangluc. vnuhcm. edu. vn.
The official exam will be held on Sunday morning, April 5th at 55 units in 15 provinces and cities according to administrative units after merger, including:
Hue, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, An Giang, Can Tho and Ca Mau.
The results of the first phase of the exam are expected to be announced on April 17.
The 2026 competency assessment exam includes 120 objective multiple-choice questions with many choices, a test time of 150 minutes, and is organized on paper.
The exam structure includes three main parts: Language Use, Mathematics and Scientific Thinking. In which, the Language Use section accounts for 60 questions, including 30 Vietnamese questions and 30 English questions; the Mathematics section includes 30 questions; the Scientific Thinking section includes 30 questions, focusing on assessing logical ability, data analysis and scientific reasoning.
In 2025, the competency assessment exam of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City attracted more than 152,000 candidates with more than 223,000 registrations at 55 exam sites in 25 provinces and cities.
More than 110 educational institutions use the results of this exam for admission consideration.
