Free tuition, no extra teaching fees help parents ease their burden
The Ministry of Education and Training talks about allowances for summer vacation and maternity leave for teachers in border areas
answered the question of Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh working at a kindergarten in a border area and a village with special difficulties in summer vacation, are teachers entitled to border allowances and long-term allowances? Is maternity allowance enjoyed?
The Ministry of Education and Training said that according to Circular No. 48/2011/TT-BGDDT, preschool teachers with an 8-week summer vacation are still entitled to full salary and allowances and subsidies. The policy for teachers working in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions is stipulated in Decree 76/2019/ND-CP, chaired by the Ministry of Home Affairs, so teachers need to contact this agency for specific instructions.
Regarding special allowances, Circular 09/2005/TT-BNV clearly states that this clause is only paid to teachers who have actually worked in border areas and areas with particularly difficult living conditions. In case they are still working at a school in this area, teachers will still receive allowances, even during the summer vacation. See more...
Teachers wade through streams and forests to provide supplies to students isolated by landslides
The serious landslide that occurred on September 2 in Tuong Ha commune caused nearly 200,000m3 of rock and soil to overflow, completely breaking an 85m long road, cutting off the main traffic route connecting Tuong Ha with Kim Bon. More than 10 days have passed, the road has not been repaired, causing thousands of people and nearly 1,600 students in Kim Bon, including nearly 900 boarding students, to be isolated.
In that situation, teachers of Kim Bon Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities had to wade through streams and forests nearly 200m through the landslide site to transport food to the school. After crossing the difficult road, teachers, parents, police and soldiers coordinated to bring food by car to school, ensuring daily meals for boarding students.

Despite many obstacles, the school's teaching activities are still taking place normally. However, the biggest difficulty at present is providing food for students. Teacher Pham Van Liem - Principal of Kim Bon Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities expressed his hope that the authorities will soon fix the landslide site and restore the road to ensure safety and stabilize the lives of people and students in the area.
